Component video (also called Y/Pb/Pr) features a three-jack video input, which provides separate connections for luminance (Y), blue color difference (PB) and red color difference (PR). I've had my new Samsung Plasma TV for about a month. Very nice picture, easy to set up, and looks great in our family room. I was a little hesitant because I've never ordered anything this big (or expensive) online, but I have had no troubles at all. After months of reviewing plasma/LCD TV's I was set on buying the Panasonic 60U. Last month Hitachi came out with this native 1080i resolution TV. The picture beats Panasonic in every aspect. Rich blacks and true color will keep any viewer extremely happy. With 3 HDMI inputs, this TV is built for the future. I've only had the TV for a week, but I am very pleased. I gave it 4 stars because there are better Plasma TV's on the market, but none for the price/value comparison. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

Customer Review: Excellent Value
I purchased this TV a couple of weeks ago and absolutely love it, and I haven't even connected HD yet (Comcast to add HD service next week). The analog stations look beautiful, which is very important since most channels don't come in HD. Out of the box it's very bright and the contrast is kicked up to the top so it didn't look great at first viewing. I found a legitimate website that calibrated this particular television and recorded the settings for optimal picture quality. After changing my settings to match their findings, the picture looks twice as good. Here they are: Picture Mode: Standard Picture: +22 Brightness: +8 Color: -1 Tint: -4 Sharpness: -14 Color Temperature: Warm Big multifunction remote with easy-to-read keys. The on-screen menu is easy to use and you can rename the inputs to one of several options (DVD, Cable, etc.). Plenty of inputs, including 2 HDMI ports, which is unheard of in this price range. One final note, if you're sitting close to the TV (6' or less), I would recommend going with a smaller model than the 42". I find that when viewing non-HD programming at that short distance everything looks grainy. Once you step back to 8' or more, everything just pops into place and looks crystal-clear. If your viewing distance is 10' or more, then you might consider stepping up to a larger model such as the 50" of the same line (also a beautiful picture). I did lots of homework and this was by far the best buy!

Customer Review: Great TV
After searching for the past year, I deceided to go with a Sharp 45" LCD. Then I saw C/C had dropped the Hitachi 55" to $3149.00, much lower than I could get even online. Went to look and was blown away by the pic. It was a no brainer, the Sharp for $3,000.00 (Costco) was good, but couldn't pass up the Hitachi for less. Only gripe was no stand. While Hitachi may not sell the stand with the TV, retailers should keep one or two in stock. Found one at a local Hi Def TV store for $399.00. High price, but wife didn't like the idea of a wall mount. Now to the TV. Great Hi-def pic. Standard cable fair to good when streached to fit screen. I usually don't run any 4:3 programming to avoid burn in. Sound from built in speakers better than I expected, but also have a 500w kenwood surround sound systen for backup. I like that you can plug a sub-woofer into the TV, but had to turn mine down as bass was overboosted. Standard DVD and VCR very good using high quality cables, but plan to upgrade the DVD in near future. The remote is actually very easy to use for TV, but lacks functions when controlling my digital cable box or stereo. I decided to use the cable remote instead. If using over the air or basic cable, TV remote works fine. Right now, all cable boxes and accessories are hooked up with monster cable, but have an HDMI cable on order, cheaped on-line than in store. I expect even better pic quality with this setup. The only bad experience with this purchase was a pushy salesman, who was pushing any TV but the Hitachi, and an expensive warranty. I would recommend any who like large plasma units to take a look at this, or the other 55" Hitachi units. A great TV, that even my wife likes.

If you think 480p (EDTV) is High Definition you are VERY mistaken. By "DEFINITION" the term "High Definition" (HDTV) refers to 1,080 scan lines of resolution. 480p (progressive scanning) is the EXACT same resolution used in a Standard Television's 480i (interlaced scanning). The difference being a full screen refresh rate of 1/60th of a second used in 480p images opposed to 1/30th of a second used in 480i images. A negligible difference may be noted when viewing very fast action segments of a program or sporting event. Customer Review: Wow. Everything I expected!
So I bought this from Circuit City a month ago and I am so plaesed with this TV. It is replacing my old college TV (27" Zenith) and it is a night & day difference. Movies look awesome, it's so cool to watch widescreen movies without any letterbox - just clear picture from corner to corner. I also have an xbox360 and the games look gorgeous on the screen. It really makes it a more enjoyable experience. As for the components built in: HDTV tuner, 2 hdmi, 2 component, and analog as well. It comes with a stand which I use since my TV is in the corner of the room. Also comes with a mounting set up. Cons: There is a chance for burn-in, so you really have to be careful with turning the TV off when you leave & so on. That said, burn-in seems to go away if you don't leave the TV on for hours. For example, I was watching the Wolrd Cup on HD and for the rest of the day I had a little trace of the ABC logo and the scorecard. Nothing outrageous, but it is something you need to be careful about. Overall, I think this is one of the better entertainment purchases I've made in a while. If you enjoy movies, HBO documentaries, etc you will be thrilled with the quality of this TV.

This plasma is awesome! I compared all the 50" plasma out there and the picture on the Panasonic is by far superior. The blacks are true black, no green or red haze as on some models. Keep in mind there is no tuner or speakers, but if you cannot get over the air reception or are always going to use cable or satellite and have surround sound, who cares! I recommend purchasing the optional HDMI input card for the ultimate picture. You can't go wrong with this one!!!

Customer Review: Great TV for the price
I got a wonderful deal (i.e. <2k) for this TV at Amazon. Having been enamored by the high definition images on plasma TVs at local stores, and being a huge sports fan, I decided to bite the bullet and get an HDTV for myself. I researched TVs for hours and hours on the internet and went on scouting trips to local Best Buys and Circuit Cities to see the TVs live. Ultimately I decided on the Toshiba for the following reasons: - I didn't want to break the bank with my first plasma - At the same time I didn't want to get a "no-name" "low-cost" brand TV - Unlike many of the lower cost plasmas, the Toshiba has 2 HDMI inputs - I liked the aesthetics and black color (didn't want a silver model) I have had the television for a week, and so far so good! I am still tinkering around with the settings to try to get the best possible picture in standard definition TV. HDTV looks amazing. And SD looks darn good too, it's just that compared to HD it looks downright primitive. Some things to also consider with this TV: - The glass is actually made my LG, not Panasonic. Also apparently the television is assembled in Thailand by the same folks who assemble Orion TVs - There is no Picture-in-picture

Customer Review: Great EDTV Plasma!
This is a beautiful TV. I've had it for 6 months and I am very happy with it. For one, the minimalism of it. I just wanted a monitor. I didn't need a tuner since I have a HD cable box and I didn't need speakers since I have a great surround sound system. Also, I find it distracting that comsumer versions of flat screens have all that stuff attached, as one reason people like flat screens are the aesthetics. I think the EDTV picture is excellent, and I feel comfortable I made the right decision to not jump on the HDTV bandwagon right now. I am constantly comparing my EDTV to friend's HDTVs and I think their picture is totally inferior, whether it's DVD or regular television or even an HD broadcast. It's a great buy and a great upgrade from a CRT. Very happy.

Customer Review: Some good...Some bad
Perhaps once everything goes hi-def, my plasma tv experience will improve. I have approx 25 hi-def channels in my area with the rest being digital. To start with, this was not my first choice. I'd originally tried to buy a Toshiba 50" but it was on national backorder and after approx 30-day wait, the online dealer I was working with said it was unlikely it would ever be available. So I bought the Samsung based on what looked like top notch specs and good picture when I checked it out at Best Buy. The picture I get on my high definition channels is quite good with the exception of nagging problems with occasional unnatural skin tones. This isn't always the case but happens often enough and is much more noticeable on the non hi-def channels. The picture that you see at Best Buy will not necessarily be what you see at home. But it still easily beats my 10 yr old 31" JVC. Shortly after I got the set, I noticed random fits of static in the audio. It got worse so I had to call Samsung for a service call. The service man also pointed out that we should be able to program the HP-R5052 to fill the entire screen no matter which channel I'm on. This option was "grayed-out" on virtually all channels. He also pointed out I'm also starting to get "burn-in" where the gray or black bars are at the edges of the screen when not watching a hi-def channel and I've only had this for 4 months. The set had to go to the shop for the repairs and we're in about the third week without it. It's probably good for us to find other ways to entertain ourselves but I paid for the thing and can't use it. Irritating. Samsung customer service was quite easy to deal with but parts order takes 1 to 2 weeks. Come on...are these parts coming by pack mule? If I had it to do over, I'd look much closer at skin tones before buying and probably choose something other than Samsung.

Customer Review: screen burn in
This is a fantastic tv, although a bit pricey, but you get what you pay for. Brilliant colours, quality sound, would look good in anyones living room. Unfortunately though i have come across a BIG problem, screen burning! after watching 90 minutes of football when the match had finished i was left with the sky one logo on the top left hand corner of my screen, among a few others. This is deeply frustrating as i think after paying so much money this shouldn`t happen. I am no expert on plasma tvs and had no idea this sort of thing could occur. This problem lets down a great tv. So please be aware when purchasing your new plasma

Customer Review: Great Value - Very Attractive
Note: My Samsung is actually the 42" version of this model. Like many other reviewers of HD products, I spent many hours researching products and "test driving" them in stores. I found the Panasonic to have a slightly better picture than the Samsung but the Samsung is far more attractive and less expensive. The connections are plentiful and readily accessable. I agree with others that they could have added 1 more HDMI port. The Samsung picture in HD is spectacular and DVDs are excellent. The on screen menu is very easy to access and use. A user manual is included and easy to use with very good explanations of all features. As soon as I registered my product, Samsung replied and thanked me with a 3 month extension on the warranty. If you are about to buy any HD product you should be aware of a few things. 1) resist the urge to save money with an online purchase. Pay the extra money for the ability to easily return yout TV. Most stores will give you 30 days to use your TV. 2) You absolutely have to use component or HDMI cables. Spend some time examing the benefits of each, but use one or the other. And 3) remember that your picture is only as good as the source. Do not expect a DVD of a 10 year old movie to be as good as a more recent movie. It's only been recently that DVDs are produced with attention given to HD/Large screen viewers. Also, not all networks broadcast in like quality. I noticed during football season that ABC and ESPN had far better quality than CBS for example. The same holds true for movie channels: HBO's movies are better than Encore's. That is not a function of the TV you are watching. I would certainly reccommend the Samsung HP-R4272/HP-R5072 to anybody shopping for an HD plasma TV.

Customer Review: Decent system
Overall pleased with the mount. It is important to locate the studs. The newer stud finders are very good and makes this process easy without having to drill tiny holes. Once the TV is on the mount, there isn't much space between the wall and the TV to make connections. It is better to have the appropriate connections in place before the TV is hung. If not, you will end up having to make the connections by feel and using a mirror. I hung a 51" Panasonic before making any of the connections. I ended up having to plug in the power cord and cable connections by feel. This isn't a problem if you've got a readily available companion to help lift the TV off of the mount.

When reading this review you should be aware that I'm a bit of a geek....ok a hardcore geek. I don't know how the average person would handle some of the hookup/setup issues which I found simple and easy. Have had the tv for all of 10 days but am quite pleased with it. No technical problems at all. Installation was easy; cabling was simple; remote operation is straight-forward. The manual, like most, is pretty paltry, so you have to do a bit of exploring and experimenting to see what all the settings and options are. I've seen reviews where people have complained about the picture quality for "regular" tv channels. It won't..and can't...make a lousy signal into HD. On the flip side, this is so good that I can tell how good the data density is on the dvd's. Yippee! Only things I might change are: 1) adding a black border instead of the all-silver and 2) giving the option to unstretch some of the digital channels into 14:9 or 4:3. But those are whines and not complaints. BTW: I got it for $3.0k, including shipping, from Amazon. Hope you can do as well!

Customer Review: Has been in the repair shop longer than in our house!
Like the other reviewers - just 1 month after purchase this tv started turning off at will, the black plastic frame comes unglued and most infuriating, we get about a 4" wide pink stripe running vertically down the middle of the screen that comes and goes. After many calls and emails to try to get the "on site" repair, turns out we had to lug the tv to a local authorized repair center who kept it for about 6 weeks only to lug it back home and it was still broken. So we lug it back in and it's been at the repair center for 8 weeks and counting despite repeated calls to them and Philips. Philips is not standing behind their relationship w/the repair center nor have they sent the correct parts to fix it. They also won't give us a new tv or extend our warranty. DO NOT BUY THIS TV. Or if you really want one, buy mine.

this is my first major "unnecessary" purchase(22 years old college student/part time worker). i was really scared in spending hard earned $1700 (plus tax) on something i would regret but i have been so satisfied with the samsung spr4232 only after a few minor tweaks. after i took this unit home, i plugged in my old dvd player (using component cables) and was unimpressed. few days later(after more research), i purchased the samsung dvd-hd850($89.99 brand new). the dvd player came with a HDMI cable INCLUDED!!! if anyone knows how much regular HDMI cables cost($80-120!), they would know this is a bargain. these two units(combined) left me stunned. the showroom quality of the tv was finally reached. HDMI cables are the only way to go with this unit. now i can enjoy my hard earned money exactly the way i've always dreamed of: a big ass plasma tv in a tiny, crowded, and a neat freak's worse nightmare of a room.

Stop spreading the word! I'm worried they'll stop making this killer display at this price. I have 2 and know lots of other owners. We use them in professional and home settings. There isn't a better deal for picture quality, flexibility and price. Know what you're buying though: you'll need to supply your own tuner & sources, speakers and stand. This is the ideal display for anyone who wants to work plasma into a serious home theater installation. Everything you need for a well-programmed custom install - direct-select inputs, multiple resolutions and aspect ratio options, full color and greyscale control, modular input boards - it's all there, I could go on. It's true that there are better choices for pure picture quality, but that's a very small and expensive list. The 50-inch is probably ideal for most large family rooms but the 42 is a great all-around display.

Customer Review: I wanted to be sure
So i waited 6 months to write the review for this unit. It was costly but I wanted something effective and quiet for my daughter (who has asthma and cant sleep if it's noisy). This unit is so quiet on the low settings that at times you really have to actively try to hear it. I keep it on Medium in her room and she doesnt notice it, on silent you wouldnt think it was even on at all! I've found that the filters need to be cleaned every 2 months if you keep the unit on 24/7 like we do...but they are easy to clean. And this is coming from someone who threw out 2 humidifiers just to avoid cleaning or replacing the filters/units. Very low maintence and easy to operate. unlike others on here i'm not sure if the air is cleaner, or if my daugher is breathing easier due to the allergy meds the doctor decided to try with her, but either way i'm considering buying another unit for our living room. Now i just need to find a humidifier that is this quiet and easy to clean!

Customer Review: Great product -- expensive but definitely worth it
I purchased this item to wall-mount a 50" plasma TV. It is a very high quality product, was easy to mount (though it definitely takes two people), the instructions were clear, and the manufacturer included all the necessary hardware and then some. Once mounted, it is very stable and easy to adjust, and adjusts in many dimensions (left to right, tilt, pan, roll, in and out). The wishbone extension can hold the TV as close to the wall as 5", or as far as 28". I am very glad I spent the extra few dollars to buy such a professional product.

Customer Review: Much worse than I expected. I prefer MX510 over this
I bought this mouse to replace my one-year old MX510. I expected a big improvement of my performance in games such as CS 1.6. However, it turned out that I was totally ripped off. This mouse is even worse than MX510. If you are not left-handed, I strongly recommend you to go with logitech MX series. The only bad thing for MX510 is that its feets are easy to worn out. But at least you can play pleasantly for about half a year. This diamond mouse is notorious for its right button. In CS 1.6, I often accidentally clicked the right button when I fire against nearby enemies, and you know if I happen to use M4 I will die immediately. So I have to intentionally lift several of my fingers and be very careful not to touch the right button when I use M4 in CS 1.6.

The 3D comb filter separates brightness and color signals better in 3D domain to eliminate cross-color, cross-luminance and dot-crawl distortion. The Active Control function uniquely and intelligently optimizes picture quality by measuring and analyzing the incoming signal to automatically adjust picture quality settings. Active Control with Light Sensor uses a sensor to adjust the p icture brightness depending on the room light conditions.

The full-color Ambilight feature provides relaxed viewing and a unique ambiance via a soft light glow on the walls surro unding the TV. CableCARD -- The CableCARD system enables the "Plug-and-Play DTV" functionality as agreed between cable operators and consumer electronics manufacturers. A CableCARD-enabled television witho ut a CableCARD inserted receives high-definition standard TV broadcasts. Customer Review: Bad Experience with a Philips Plasma TV
We bought a refurbished 42" Pixel Plus flat screen plasma TV. We saw a beautiful, highly detailed picture - for about 4 hours - then we couldn't get it to turn on again. The repair guy couldn't get it to work either. He said that he would have to take it to the shop and see if he could figure out what was wrong. He also said that he had seen a lot of problems with Philips plasma TVs. After having the TV for only 5 days we have made arrangements to send it back to Philips for a refund.

Customer Review: Great TV for the price...even though it's a 2005 model
I bought this TV recently from a local membership warehouse. It was a display model, and I got such a deal I couldn't pass it up. Anyway, after tweaking the thing for all it was worth and watching a few hours of HDTV, I've come to the realization that this is an exceptional TV. The good: * - Picture quality is great. skin looks like skin and I end up watching stuff I'd never usually watch, just because it's on in high definition. * - TV isn't too heavy. At 42" and just under 100 lbs, I managed to get it all set up by myself. * - Built in tuners, pic in pic, and plenty of inputs to hook up all your goodies. * - Did I mention how good the picture quality was? The Bad * - Haven't really found any yet. I hear tell that there is no channel guide built in, so if you use a cablecard, there's nothing to tell you what's on the other channels. Also, as an aside, be careful about these recent reviews. I actually bought a new one locally, but at this point the majority of these TVs are being bought refurbed directly from philips. When someone complains about the level of service at philips, or problems with the set, you've got to realize that the level of service you get when buying a new set is definitely different than from buying directly from the manufacturers refurb sell off site.

Customer Review: Works okay, but why no dust filter?
I've had this air purifier for just over two months now. Before my purchase I researched many types of purifiers and this seemed like the best choice due to the price and the fact that it is at the very least a HEPA purifier. Even if the plasmacluster technology doesn't work at least you have a HEPA purifier with a filter that has a 5 year life span. My wife has severe allergies, and I was hoping that this purifier would make a difference. It has done that but not to the extent that I had hoped. For the money it was completely worth the little bit of comfort that it provides her. My biggest complaint about this purifier though is the lack of a dust/pollen filter like the FP-N60CX. It seems to me that cleaning dust and pollen from the air is the grunt work of an air purifier, and odor control is more of a premium nicety. Sharp apparently sees things the opposite way as the FP-N40CX includes an odor sensor, but not a dust/pollen sensor. What this means is that the auto mode is fairly useless. I would gladly give up the odor sensor for a dust sensor. Though pricing has changed since my purchase, at the time it would have cost me half again as much to upgrade to the FP-N60CX, it just wasn't worth it. The end result is that I leave the fan in "pollen mode" and the plasmacluster in "clean mode". From my calculations this shouldn't cost me more than $10/year in electricity but I would much rather use the auto mode. If it isn't too much more to go with the FP-N60CX when you purchase I would highly recommend going with that.

I thought this item was a light but strong metal from the picture. It is actually painted compressed wood and is assembled like you would "Sauder" furniture, just without the align key. I have not had a good history with the past Zenith products that I have bought, but I thought I would give this tv a chance. I did, and I am thankful for it. Customer Review: A good TV
Well, this is my first foray into the 'high end' television experience. I'm satisfied with this particular model, although the instructions leave a lot to be desired. Perhaps Norcent expects you to already be familiar with the general product? I have HD cable and experience a few issues, although I don't know if this is the fault of the TV or Comcast Cable. For instance, on one of my HD local channels I get this funny looking stripe at the very top of the picture. It almost looks like a scrambled picture or something. Also, according to the TV documentation, the set supports up to 1080i. However the only setting on my cable box that is compatible is 480p. Now if I only had the slightest clue what those meant. LOL... As I say, the TV itself is awesome. Nice, sharp picture with vibrant colors. If only the manual was a bit more user friendly...

Customer Review: Minor Problems
I too had sound problems where the sound would go out after the tv had been on for about 3 hours. After letting the tv cool down for around 15 minutes it was good again. Bought it from Sears. They replaced the digital/audio board with no resolution. The techs were honest and told me they never had this problem with a Samsung before and weren't sure what the root of the problem was. Tech called Samsung directly from my house. Found it was the Power board was short circuting when heated up. All replaced under the two year warranty. No problems since repair. Tech did tell me they had more problems similar to this with the toshiba's and Sony's. This TV has a great picture and is far better than most comparably priced tv's I have the 3 year service agreement. Tech said anyone who didn't buy the agreement was crazy. Digital/audio board w/out labor was $512 and the power board was $212 labor was $181 first trip $222 the second since they had to take more of the tv apart. Moral is: don't buy a plasma w/out a service agreement.

Customer Review: More Than I Could Have Wished For
I recently purchased this the Pioneer 5060 50" HD TV and I must say I am blown away. I've had a 27" for ten years with a surround sound system that sounded great. However, with three remotes and wires everywhere, I really wanted something that made things simpler. This TV is that and so much more. Since it has it own stand, we decided to purchase a piece of furniture to put it on rather than a glass or pressboard entertainment center. It weighs around 60 lbs - which is 1/3rd the weight of the "projection" TV's. While I wouldn't suggest moving it about the house - it can be done with ease.The day before the TV arrived, I took the plunge and removed my surround sound speakers, amp, old TV and disassembled the old "entertainment" center. It weighed nearly 150 lbs and I couldn't get it out of the house by myself unless I took it apart. The Pioneer arrived and sat perfectly on the small piece of furniture we had purchased at Pier 1. What a difference it appearance. The Pioneer comes with two speakers on the side of the TV that have a special surround feature built into them. I then attached a Sony Powered subwoofer to the "sub-out" on the media box. Clean and simple. I've watched quite a few movies since and I can honestly say it sounds great - I don't miss the surround-sound mess at all. The picture is just awesome. We watched MARCH OF THE PENGUINS - and the colors were simply amazing. It looks better than in the theatre. Pioneer Pure Vision is their patented technology to a great picture. The presets for the various picture modes are all great. The remote is easy to use - and the supplied media box makes connectioning all your other gear simple. You don't have to go behind the TV to connect anything - a big minus with many of the other upright thin sets. One last thing. The 50" picture fills your field of vision - and I can honeslty say watching in a darkened room is as close to a theatre experience as you can come. I give this unit 5 big stars - the picture, the sound, the appearance, ease of use and the features of the media box really make this a winner. Does it cost a bit more - yes - but it's worth every penny.

Customer Review: DO NOT BUY THIS PIECE OF JUNK!!!!!!!!
I'm an extremely dissatisfied customer of Philips and I own the Ambilight model (50PF9630A/37). Well, I kind of own it. I pay for it while it sits in the service center. I had it for 7 months prior to the recall of almost 12,000 Philips TVs with certain Ambilight parts in them. A technician came to my home to replace the faulty parts three and a half months ago and it's been in the shop since that day. I have been on the phone with Philips over and over throughout this ordeal while they've sent part after part after part to the service center, in failed attempts to get my television working again. Their customer service is horrible and they are adamant that they are going to do everything they possibly can to avoid replacing the unit, no matter how long it takes. I have been told multiple times by their "customer service" reps that there is NO TIMEFRAME in which they must complete a repair before finally deeming the unit unrepairable AND to top it off, my warranty will still expire at the date of purchase, even if they still have it in their possession at that time. Basically, if they keep it for two and a half more months and get it working long enough for them to drop it off at my house, I'm on my own. I'm not a plasma expert by any means, but I hope this helps you and anyone else that reads this in making an informed decision on atleast which brand NOT to buy.

Customer Review: A Real Money Saver
The idea here is to be able to recycle an old computer monitor, either a CRT or an LCD. The Avtunerplus Watch Live does the job and does it quite well as far as my experience goes. I had a new 17" LCD monitor that I tried to sell on eBay, since a week after I bought it I decided I needed a 19" ...go figure. Since eBay has turned into freeBay these days, I decided to keep the monitor. Then, I ran across this nifty device and I thought.."Hey, $55.00 bucks, and I can use any monitor I ever own as a TV...not only that, but since a good 17" LCD sells for under a buck fifty commonly, instant 17" LCD TV for under 2 bills.." You can't touch a 17" Flat Panel TV for that money. Not to mention the fact that if 19" and 20" LCD's keep dropping, I could UPGRADE.. UMMMM...UPGRADE..!! Suffice to say, the AVTunerPlus did the job. Instructions are a bit iffy, but anyone with half a brain can figure it out...eventually. Tunes my Cable in up to channel 100, which is all the cable company will allow without their "special" box. Gives me full remote control, adjusts the picture, volume control...it's a great device. From 3-4 feet away, the monitor is as clear as a bell. I like it. Uncle Willie

Now that you've mounted your flat-panel LCD or gas-plasma TV to the wall in true picture-frame fashion, you'll probably need home-theater speakers with a similarly flat, room-friendly design. Enter the AST 220-series loudspeakers, which AudioSource consciously constructed for use in concert with each other. All were designed for wall mounting, and this model, the AST 220S satellite speakers, will also work just fine with standard CRT and projection sets.

Use the AST 220S's as primary left/right speakers with the timbrally matched AST 220C center-channel speaker, and/or as left/right surround speakers in a 5.1-, 6.1-, or 7.1-channel home theater (keeping in mind that you'll need an additional AST 220C to serve as a rear-center speaker for a 6.1 system). For front left/right use, you can either mount the speakers to the wall, as designed, or supplement them with bases for freestanding vertical placement (using the optional AudioSource AST-Base set) or even custom-fit floor stands (the optional AST-Stands).

The AST 220S satellites are sealed (acoustic-suspension) 2-way speakers, each using two 4.25-inch woofers and a single poly-treated silk-dome tweeter. With their 90 to 20,000 Hz frequency response (+/- 2.5 dB), the speakers offer a bit more bass than many satellites, and their performance is easily enhanced through the use of a stand-alone powered subwoofer (such as the AudioSource AST-SUB10) for dedicated ".1" low-frequency surround effects and deep-bass musical tones.

AudioSource recommends using the speakers with an amplifier or surround receiver producing anywhere from 15 to 200 watts per channel (RMS).

I purchase my Magnavox plasma tv EDTV from Circuit City. It was a great buy. It was an open box item with the remote and user manual missing. I only paid $1200. love the style, the black bezel looks sharp, but even with dvi from my comcast hdtv box it still suffers from blochy shading effect especially in dark scenes and on flesh tones. Customer Review: Problems after 6 months
Bought this TV back in February '06 and was happy with the choice. You can certainly tell the difference between HD and ED if the TV's are sitting next to each other in the showroom, but when the EDTV is sitting by itself in your living room the picture looks great (especially with a true HD signal). Looks pretty good with just a regular cable signal as well. Plenty of connections and features for the price. Unfortunately after about 6 months I started to notice green dots in the dark areas of the picture. At first this would only occur when the TV was on for an hour or more. After a few weeks the problem got worse and started happening all the time. Called Toshiba and they put me in contact with a local service company which came and picked up the TV to repair under warranty. The service company said they had seen this problem before with Toshiba's and it would be easy to fix; "should take about a week". Well, its now been three weeks and I still don't have my TV. Turns out the service company can't fix it and has recommended to Toshiba that they replace my TV. They think it may be the plasma screen itself. Toshiba has not yet determined what they will do, but have informed me that even if they decide to replace it, it will be 7 to 14 more days before I would get a replacement. I hope this isn't a common problem with Toshiba's and am worried that even a new one will develop the same problem AFTER the warranty has expired. Toshiba support is hit or miss. I've talked to three or four differnt people over the past week. Some have been extremely helpful, and some have been downright rude. Don't think I will ever purchase a Toshiba product again after this experience.

Customer Review: Good value, great picture, but questionable reliability ...
My first Plasma TV, purchased upon recommendations from Consumer Reports, but the screen just turned bad after 10 months, more on that later. What I like: - Outstanding quality picture even though it is EDTV - Great quality for cable via component, hdmi, and over the air - Great over the air reception including HDTV channels - I can plug in my computer via the hdmi input using an adapter and watch movies, and my still pictures in glorious size and resolution - Many inputs - I have them all used up What I don't like: - Mediocre sound from TV speakers - but I hooked them up through my sound system to get full surround, so really not a problem - No variable audio out - that means that if I connect the audio out from the TV to my sound system, I have to use the remote for my sound system to control the volume - gets confusing to be using multiple remotes for basic functions. All my previous TVs had variable sound out, so the vol control on the TV remote would adjust the volume. I got around this by programming the cable box remote to control the sound system volume and the channels. I still have to use the TV remote to power on or off and pick the sources of input. I also got a harmony remote, that I use occasionally. - Wish there were more dvi / hdmi inputs because now dvd players, cable boxes, computers all come with dvi / hdmi After 10 months of use a vertical green strip appeared on the screen. Within 5 days it became a 3 inch wide black strip. I called Panasonic - got constantly busy tones. Then I discovered a Plasma Concierge number on their web site, called it got through to a human right away. They were very polite and courteous, walked me through diagnostics. They concluded I needed a service call - which I am awaiting. Will let you know how it works out, but meanwhile I am worried about reliablility since I did not take out an extended service plan. If I had to do it again I would take out a extended service plan for an extra $250.

Stylishly dressed in black and silver and producing a vividly bright picture, the 32-inch Hitachi 32HDT50 plasma HDTV monitor will turn your living room into your own personal cinema. It features up to a up to 1280 x 768-pixel resolution and you can select from the following display formats: 1080i (HDTV), 720p (HDTV), 540p, 480p, and 480i. It also offers a table-top stand with swivel, illuminated remote control, front-panel menu controls, and dual 181-channel NTSC tuners (you'll need a separate HDTV tuner to receive high-definition broadcasts)

The 32HDT50 features a widescreen picture aspect ratio (16:9; standard TVs have a 4:3 aspect ratio), which is the ideal screen format for viewing widescreen video from DVD players and the growing availability of broadcast programming off digital HDTV tuners (HD content is always widescreen), cable boxes and satellite receivers.

The 3:2 pulldown cinema video processing feature detects and compensates film--which is shot at 24 frames per second (fps) compared with video's 30 fps rate--to video for a smooth theater-like experience at home. The 32HDT50 has two built-in 7-watt speakers (for 14 watts of total power), and features the following video and audio connections:
